Racist Couple Destroy Child's Party

A couple, Kayla Norton and Jose Torres, were both sentenced to jail time after attending an African American child's birthday party with weapons and confederate flags making threats. The attendants of the party were called derogatory terms, were threatened, and had a shotgun pointed at them by Torres. While in court Norton and Torres cried and claimed that their actions that day was not who they were. Norton was sentenced to 15 years and Torres was sentenced to 20 years. Norton will serve six years and jail while Torres serves 13 years.

This event is an event that these children will remember forever and the fear that they felt that day will also be remembered. These children were harassed and threatened simply because of the color of their skin. It is quite horrific that these things go on in today's society but society is seen as evolved from its horrendous ways. During the times of segregation, Jim Crow Laws, and slavery these kind of acts of terrorism occurred almost daily and African American's would be lucky to make it out of the situation unharmed. This case is a significant case because often hate crimes are downplayed and the victim's do not receive justice for the pain they've suffered.
